Terms and Conditions

By submitting a booking request or staying at the cottage, you agree to these terms.

Booking requests and our right to refuse

Submitting a booking request does not guarantee a stay. All requests are subject to approval, and we may accept or decline any request, or cancel a confirmed booking before arrival, for any lawful reason, at our sole discretion. If we decline or cancel before your stay, we'll refund any payment you've made. A booking is only confirmed when we tell you so in writing (email or text).

Payment

We do not accept payment before we confirm your stay. Once confirmed, we'll send payment instructions and a due date. We accept Interac e-Transfer and cash only. Your dates are not held until we've received the required payment by the due date, and we may release them to others if payment is late.

Taxes

Rates shown include applicable taxes, including HST where it applies.

Damage deposit

A refundable damage deposit of $1,000 is due with your payment and will be returned within 48 hours of check-out, less the cost of any damage, missing items or excessive cleaning.

Cancellations by guests

Once a reservation has been accepted and confirmed, a cancellation can only be made in accordance with the terms below:

A cancellation made up to 60 days before a vacation starts will be eligible for a full refund of all monies paid.

Check-in, check-out and occupancy

Check-in is at 11:00 and check-out is by 4:00. The maximum number of guests is 9, including children, or 6 adults. Additional guests, day visitors and overnight guests not listed on your booking require our prior approval. We may refuse entry or ask guests to leave if the limit is exceeded, without a refund.

Pets

Dogs are welcome with prior approval. Guests must tell us about all pets when booking, keep them under control, and clean up after them. Guests are responsible for any pet damage.

Conduct and house rules

Guests must respect neighbours and the property. Quiet hours are 9:30 PM to 8:00 AM. Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside the cottage. We reserve the right to end a stay immediately and without refund if the rules are broken, the property is misused, or there's a safety concern.

Fire and water safety

Open fires are permitted only in the fire pit and must never be left unattended. Guests must follow any local fire bans. Kayaks, canoes and other watercraft are used at the guests' own risk. Life jackets must be worn by children. Children must be supervised at all times near the water. Guests are responsible for being safe on the lake, including boating and swimming.

Liability

The cottage is rented as is. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Belmont Lake Life and its owners are not responsible for injury, illness, loss or damage to people or belongings during a stay, except where caused by our own negligence. We recommend guests carry their own travel or personal insurance.

Damage and cleaning

Guests are responsible for damage to the property or its contents beyond normal wear and tear, and for excessive cleaning. Please leave the cottage in reasonable condition and follow the check-out instructions.

Access and services

We may enter the property with reasonable notice for repairs or in an emergency. This is a cottage, so services such as Wi-Fi, cell coverage, water, power and appliances may occasionally be interrupted. We'll fix problems as quickly as we reasonably can, but outages aren't grounds for a refund.

Unforeseen events

We are not responsible for stays affected by events outside our control, such as severe weather, power or water failures, fire bans, road closures or emergencies. If we need to cancel for one of these reasons, we'll offer a refund or alternate dates.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The terms in effect when your booking is confirmed apply to your stay.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario.
